The Project:
The Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Foundation Trust contracted the services of Hamlet following a competitive tender process. The contract covered the internal refurbishment and alterations at the Radiotherapy Department of the Royal Marsden Hospital, Chelsea.
During the project we created an improved WC and redesigned the existing Joe Ford waiting area, providing all necessary building, mechanical and electrical works.
The works comprised alterations to the existing layout, removing and relocating two existing WCs, providing a larger waiting area. The rest of the works concentrated on the general refurbishment and overall modernisation.
The works included:
- Construction of new partitions to form the required layout.
- New suspended ceilings.
- New floor coverings.
- Re-decoration.
- Wall protection.
- Installation of new air-conditioning unit to suit the revised layout.
- Re-location of the existing extract ventilation to suit the revised layout.
- Re-location of existing fire detection systems.
- Installation of new light fittings and switch arrangement.
- Installation of new small power to suit room layouts/requirements.
- Installation of new Cat 5 telephone and data outlets.
- Installation of emergency call system in the WCs, linked to the existing hospital nurse call system.
